LUFKIN’S REACH • SCREENPLAY READING

Lufkin’s Reach is the winner of the MFF 2015 Unproduced Screenplay Competition. Here’s what legendary Oscar-award winning finalist judges Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana had to say about it:

“In our view, the best screenplay of this year’s fine entries is Lufkin’s Reach by Johnny Walters. Lufkin’s Reach is a noirish story in the mode of Elmore Leonard’s Get Shorty. Some will be reminded of Reservoir Dogs. It could have accurately been called Cop Culture, since that is the culture the reader is drawn into in the opening pages.

The script is extremely well paced; the dialogue is sharp; and there are a number of appealing roles that will attract smart actors.

We think Lufkin’s Reach could be a film we would want to see.”
