Following in the footsteps of Fritz Lang, Dan Castella studied architecture, but it didn’t take. Since that minor lapse in decision making he went on to work as a director's assistant to Armando Iannucci (VEEP, IN THE LOOP, THE DEATH OF STALIN), Nicholas Roeg, Victoria Pile and Alex de la Iglesia.

These creative genii mentored him toward directing his own material and since Dan has gained attention for many of his short films, including being shortlisted for Virgin Media awards in 2009 and 2012, winning Jury commendation for his short 'PITTA PATTER' in 2013 and winning 1st Prize at the Straight 8 Industry shootout at Cannes with his short film 'JAMELLA'.

In between short films, Dan has been directing online content and the odd commercial for major UK creative agencies.
